Hoist the Sails, Because Plankenkoorts Is Coming to Pixie Fest!

Great news! On Saturday, 17 April, we will have a first at Pixie Spirit Fest, as the pirate band Plankenkoorts will be making its debut at a fantasy festival! How exciting is that?

Get ready for a generous dose of pirate music, powerful rhythms and a musical journey full of folk, rock, cheerful sea shanties and surprising melodies. But be warned: with Plankenkoorts, it is about much more than just music.

Who are Plankenkoorts?

Plankenkoorts is a pirate band from Alphen aan den Rijn and the surrounding area, and won the Dutch National Street Musicians Festival in Alphen aan den Rijn in 2024 and 2026.

Their music takes you into the world of pirates and their adventures at sea. But what really makes this band special is the important role theatre plays during their performances.

When you see Plankenkoorts, you are not simply listening to a band. You step aboard a pirate ship and are taken on an adventure that unfolds throughout the entire performance.

The songs are an important part of the story, but the adventure does not stop when a song ends. The story continues between the songs, too! Through theatrical moments and exciting events, the crew takes you along on their journey.

One thing is certain: with Plankenkoorts, you never know exactly what to expect!

Will you become the newest crew member of Plankenkoorts?

A pirate ship can always use an extra crew member, and Plankenkoorts is no exception.

Do you play the flute, bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy or another instrument suited for folk music? As long as you don't play the violin, you might just be the person they are looking for!

Plankenkoorts mainly performs in the west of the Netherlands and rehearses in Alphen aan den Rijn. Would you like to become part of this emerging and growing pirate band? Then get in touch via contact@plankenkoorts.band and find out whether you could soon come aboard!
