Attention fantasy fans: join the Flag Parade with Pixie Spirit!
Are you a true fantasy enthusiast? Then we have some exciting news for you.
This summer, you can join Team Pixie Spirit for a short but special walk. We’re participating in the Flag Parade of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches, and you can join us!
But first, a little explanation:
Did you know that Team Pixie Spirit will be walking quite a long way this summer?
From Tuesday, July 15th to Friday, July 18th, the 107th Nijmegen Four Days Marches will take place, and Team Pixie Spirit will be there. Our group will walk 4 times 50 km!
And it’s all thanks to Björn, who is participating for the first time this year.
During the Four Days Marches, men up to 50 years old are required to walk 50 kilometers per day. Women have a minimum distance of 40 kilometers, with the option to also choose 50 kilometers. The ladies of Team Pixie are not the worst! And to support Björn on his way to the Via Gladiola, they will walk the full 200 kilometers with him this year! (gulp) 😱
The Flag Parade; where it all begins
Every year, the Four Days Marches are traditionally opened with a festive and colorful Flag Parade.
On Sunday afternoon, July 13th — the day before the start — about 1500 walkers will march through the city towards the Wedren.
The parade features national and international military and civilian groups, each carrying their own flag.
After the parade arrives at the Wedren, the ceremonial opening of the Walk of the World takes place. During this opening, the official Four Days Marches song is sung, and the flags of the approximately 70 participating countries are raised. Quite a few, indeed.
After that, it’s celebration time in the city. 😁
Why are we telling you this?
Pixie Spirit will officially participate in the flag parade with our own purple-yellow flag.
And of course, we’ll walk in style. Because Pixie Spirit wouldn’t be Pixie Spirit if we didn’t show up in full costume: in other words, our fantasy costumes. We want to make it fun and beautiful, and at the same time, we want to put the Fantasy Community on the map.
Actually, we were already working on these plans before we knew we would organize our own festival in 2027. What started as an idea to raise awareness for the fantasy community has grown into something bigger.
And we would love for you to join us in celebrating this!

Put on your best fantasy costume, come to Nijmegen, and join our group. We’ll give you a nice goodie bag as a thank you.
If you’re not in the mood for a costume, that’s perfectly fine too.
