Pixie Spirit joined the Flag Parade of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches.

In an earlier blog, we shared that Björn would be participating in the Nijmegen Four Days Marches for the first time this year, together with two of his favorite Pixies 🧚🏻.
The Nijmegen Four Days Marches, also known as the Walk of the World, traditionally kicks off with the colorful Flag Parade. This vibrant procession includes both national and international military groups as well as civilian organizations.

This year, Pixie Spirit had the honor of joining the parade, giving us a wonderful opportunity to bring attention to the fantasy community.

And wow! It was such an incredible experience to walk proudly through the streets of Nijmegen with our flags, receiving so many kind and enthusiastic reactions from the crowd. 💜

Our motivation to participate in the Flag Parade was to give a face to the fantasy community in everyday life, and to show fantasy lovers who may feel lonely in today's world that our beautiful community is everywhere.

We can honestly say: mission accomplished.

The Start of the Four Days Marches
After the Flag Parade, it was time for almost all participants to start getting ready for the Four Days Marches.
At 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning (so early! 🥱), the first day of walking officially began.
Halfway through the day, Björn received a message that read: “Pay attention when you’re around the 35 km mark.”
Not knowing what to expect, we kept walking, keeping a close eye on the crowd.
Then suddenly, in the distance, we saw our very own Pixie Spirit flag waving.

It’s impossible to put into words how amazing it was to see that and to be surprised like that.

But that wasn’t the only time we spotted our flag during the four days of walking.
Every single day, not only were our parents cheering us on from the sidelines with the flag, but many friends also came out to support us and the other Pixie participants from the Flag Parade on our journey toward the Via Gladiola.

It’s impossible to put into words how grateful we are for all this support, and how special it was to see our flag pop up in so many places.

We’ve created a video compilation of all these beautiful moments you can watch it here.

Again next year?
After walking 40 or 50 kilometers each day for four days, all the Pixies crossed the finish line—proud and tired—and each of them received the hard-earned Medal. So, will we be walking again next year? Absolutely 100% yes!
And most likely with a bunch of new fantasy first-timers joining us.

After the Four Days Marches, we received many messages through our social media from people interested in walking the Nijmegen Four Days Marches with us next year. We’re currently thinking about organizing a Pixie Spirit training walk sometime next year.

Interested? Be sure to keep an eye on our socials!

Of course, we’ll also apply to join next year’s Flag Parade again—and we hope to be invited once more.

Lastly, many of you asked what was inside the Pixie Spirit goodie bag that we made for the Flag Parade participants. We’ll be answering that question in an upcoming blog post.

Fantastical greetings,
